Personalized acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine care for migraines and recurring headaches in Winnipeg.
At All Balance Wellness Centre, we provide individualized acupuncture care for people experiencing migraines and different types of recurring headaches. Treatment is tailored to your headache pattern, symptoms, health history, possible triggers, and overall health.
How We Approach Migraine & Headache Acupuncture
Headaches and migraines can vary considerably from person to person. During your first appointment, your acupuncturist will review the location, frequency, duration and characteristics of your headaches, along with associated symptoms and possible triggers.
We may also discuss sleep, stress, digestion, menstrual cycle, neck and shoulder tension, medications and other aspects of your health. Your acupuncture treatment plan is then individualized according to your presentation.
Acupuncture may be used as a complementary approach for headache and migraine management and is not intended to replace appropriate medical evaluation or treatment.

Migraine Symptoms Can Be Different for Everyone
Migraine may involve more than head pain. Some people experience nausea, sensitivity to light or sound, visual disturbances, dizziness, neck discomfort or fatigue. Frequency and triggers can also vary considerably.
Because headache patterns differ, we focus on the individual presentation rather than using the same treatment approach for every patient.

Headaches from a Traditional Chinese Medicine Perspective
Traditional Chinese Medicine evaluates headaches according to the overall pattern of symptoms rather than the location of pain alone.
Your acupuncturist may consider the location and nature of the headache, sensitivity to temperature, sleep, stress, digestion, menstrual cycle, energy level and other symptoms. Traditional patterns may include concepts such as Qi and Blood deficiency, Blood stasis, Liver Yang rising, or external pathogenic factors.
These are traditional Chinese medicine diagnostic concepts and are different from biomedical diagnoses.
