18-12% of the couples in the world are facing problems with infertility, and in these modern times, the percent is getting bigger. 20% of the cases are due to both male, and female factors.[1]
What causes infertility?
According to the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) infertility occurs due to disrupted vital balance and blockages in the Qi energy and Blood circulation flow, as well as the deficiency of kidney yin or yang.
When the free flow of energy is blocked, it can block and disrupt the sexual and reproductive function both in men and women.
1.Kidney Yin deficiency syndrome
Kidney yin deficiency refers to the symptoms of excessive consumption of kidney yin and insufficiency of nourishment.
The clinical manifestations are aching and weakness of the low back and knees, dizziness, insomnia, seminal emission for males, irregular menstruation for females.
2. Kidney Yang deficiency syndrome
Kidney yang deficiency syndrome is due to the failure of qi to transform resulting from the decline of kidney yang and its failure in nourishing the body.
The clinical manifestations are impotence, immature ejaculation, cold sperm, infertility due to cold in the uterus, sexual hypoesthesia, aching and cold sensation in the low back and knees, cold limbs and body, etc.
3. Blood stasis syndrome
Blood stasis syndrome refers to the syndrome caused by the retention of stasis.
The clinical manifestations are distending pain of breast, painful menstruation with blood clots, even amenorrhea.
4. Qi stagnation syndrome
Qi stagnation syndrome refers to syndromes caused by qi stagnation in a certain region or a certain viscera in the body.
The clinical manifestations are emotional upset(anxiety, depression or hot temper), distending pain or migratory pain of breast, blood clot during menstruation, etc.
